Peer Review Process

All submissions to the Malaysian Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (MyJMS) undergo double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are withheld from each other throughout the process.

Review Stages

  1. Initial editorial screening (1–2 weeks). The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Section Editor checks the manuscript for scope fit, adherence to author guidelines, and plagiarism. Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements are desk-rejected with brief feedback.
  2. Double-blind review (4–6 weeks). At least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise assess the manuscript on its rigour, originality, and clarity.
  3. Editorial decision. Based on the reviewer reports, the Editor-in-Chief issues one of four decisions: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject.
  4. Revision and re-review. Revised manuscripts are re-assessed by the original reviewers (or by the editor, for minor revisions) before a final decision is reached.

Timeline

Our target is a first decision within eight weeks of submission. Actual timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability and the number of revision rounds required.

Reviewer Selection

Reviewers are selected for their subject-matter expertise and the absence of any conflict of interest with the authors. Reviewers are asked to declare conflicts of interest and to treat all manuscripts as confidential. Prospective reviewers who wish to contribute to MyJMS are welcome to register through the journal's online system.
